Obama’s Pledge to Halve Deficit Still Means Huge Deficits for Years to Come

"President Barack Obama pledged Monday that his administration would cut the federal budget deficit in half by the end of his first term......

“We cannot and will not sustain deficits like these without end....

"But according to the Congressional Budget Office, even if Obama meets that goal – the deficit would go down, ... only to a level (one third to one half) higher than that seen during most of the George W. Bush administration."

The 'Hidden Jew' and Portugal's First Kosher Cheese

"A new scientific study published late last year indicate that approximately 20 percent of the population of Spain and Portugal, around 10 million people, are descendants of Jews." So stated Michael Freund, the director of Shavei Israel in Jerusalem.

The implication of those numbers alone for the state of Israel, with it's demographic problems, have the potential to be staggering. This could be so if the rabbinate and the State of Israel become as outreaching as they have been to the Russian Jews. Naturally, there is a difference between the two communities in regard to the calendar time period of non-observance in both communiites, as well as to the ability to identify clearly one's maternal Jewish mother, and grandmother etc. But those are issues for which the Chief Sephardi Rabbi of Israel has already set out guidelines.

Following those guidelines could potentially create a natural "exit strategy" for Israeli Arabs who suddenly see themselves as once again falling further behind in percentage of Israeli population. This could happen if another wave of Jews making aliyah: this time not from Russia, but from Spain and Portugal, come in significant numbers.

Fireballs in the Sky - for Real

"On Friday, Feb. 13th, people in central Kentucky heard loud booms, felt their houses shake, and saw a fireball streaking through the sky. This occurred scant hours after another fireball at least 10 times brighter than a full Moon lit up the sky over Italy. Although it is tempting to attribute these events to debris from the Feb. 10th collision of the Iridium 33 and Kosmos 2251 satellites, the Kentucky and Italy fireballs also seem to be meteoroids, not man made objects."

Just as an aside, if you access the NASA site directly, notice on the left of the screen the latest image of the Sun. It has been like this at least since last Jan. 2008 when I began to monitor it. Notice the lack of Sunspots activity. While last winter '08 marked the end of the 11 yr. Sunspot cycle, and the beginning of a new cycle at the opposite pole, it hasn't happened. 2008 was "the blankest year" in over 50 years, and 2009 seems to be a continuation. "We're experiencing a deep minimum of the solar cycle......Researchers are now seeing the dimmest sun in their records. The change is small, just a fraction of a percent, but significant. Questions about effects on climate are natural if the sun continues to dim." Read it HERE. Could this be the reason for the real cooling trend (last 7 yrs.) of the Pacific Ocean which marks a continuation of the La Nina effect (prolonged drought) in many parts of the Earth? (I know, I know. It's raining cats n' dogs outside today here in L.A.).

Question, could this be the reason for the change in rhetoric from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" that we have heard during the last 12 months? Hm?

"Middle East expert Rowan Laxton, 47, was watching TV reports of the Israeli attack on Gaza as he used an exercise bike in a gym.

"Stunned staff and gym members allegedly heard him shout: 'F**king Israelis, f**king Jews'.

"The maximum penalty for inciting religious hatred is a seven-year prison term or a fine or both."

Greeks Holding Iran-Bound Ship Carrying Missile Components

Big surprise: "Greece has been holding a ship traveling from Slovenia to Iran over concerns about its cargo, which includes components for surface-to-surface missiles....

"The cargo manifest indicated the materials it carried were destined for an Iranian firm that has played a part in the country’s missile program."

Terrorists Rape to Recruit Suicide Bombers

"A 51-year-old Iraqi woman has been arrested for her role in a ring of terrorists who use rape as a way of "persuading" young women to become suicide bombers. Samira Ahmed Hassim, known as "the Mother of Believers," confessed.

"Hassim explained to the Associated Press in a prison interview a week after her arrest that dozens of young women were sent to her after they had been captured and raped by the men. She would then try to persuade them to become suicide terrorists as the only means of reclaiming their honor, and as a way to escape the stigma and shame they would otherwise face in Islamic society.

"Not only women are being raped as a means of coercing them into becoming suicide bombers – men are being sexually attacked as well."

The King Is Naked and The HoneyMoon is Over

In his current editorial, Charles Krauthammer bemoans the end of BHO's political HoneyMoon which with most Presidents lasts around six months, but in this case, only two and a half weeks. Charles has opened the windows to the bridal chambers in order to let the hot air out. Apparently, Charles is having trouble breathing-in what he considers the pollution of the King's manipulative, rhetorical, messianic promises of "change" and his actual, on the ground "same old, same old".

If he's right, we may all need more than Tums and "two aspirin" in the morning to squelch the "acid reflux" and accompanying angina.

Obama's Moralizing Tone May Not Wear Well - TWSJ

"Along with ... trumpeting declarations to the world that new leadership had now come to the United States, that we were now a nation worthy of the world's trust -- those speeches suggesting that after years of darkness America had now been rescued, just barely, from the abyss -- will be in the end, this president's Achilles' heel. So concludes another WSJ editorial in which the new orientation regarding US security matters is explored. In fact, the editorial states something that I think few of us were aware of: that when Pres. BHO ordered "the freezing of all detainee prosecutions" at GITMO, "that ... request brought an eloquent reply from Col. James Pohl, Guantanamo's chief military judge, who promptly said no." WOW!

Did you just see that response? "NO" from the Col. and judge at GITMO! This was only two days into BHO's tenure in office. Someone has COJONES!

UN Admits: IDF Didn't Hit School

" During the Cast Lead operation in Gaza, IDF tank fire near a United Nations school in Gaza was blamed for the deaths of dozens of civilians who had taken refuge in the building. The incident became one of the most highly publicized attacks in the war, and led to heavy international criticism.

Once again, I repeat, once again, Israel is blamed, apologizes, and afterword is vindicated: way too late to make the news or correct the false impressions.
