With ‘friends’ like these, who needs enemies?

From the British Jewish Chronicle, of 17 April 2009, Melanie Phillips looks at what she sees as a dangerous new trend in Washington passing itself off as the new think Vi's-a-vis the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

She starts off by zeroing in on "Chas W Freeman, the short-lived chairman-designate of the US National Intelligence Council," who was " forced to resign recently after protests over his lobbying activities for Saudi Arabia and China and his extreme antipathy to Israel", which she indicates is not merely seen by his willingness "to pin the blame on that all-purpose scapegoat, ‘the Jewish lobby’, or ... its modern version, ‘the Israel lobby’. He came up with another variation on the theme.

"He said his opponents ’should probably be called the Likud lobby."

I personally believe there are few within the tribe who are aware of how this Chas Freeman is helping to sabotage American Israeli relations, but also how President Obama has embraced this man's "new think" regarding the matter.
